Stephen G Blitch joined Reed Smith as part of the merger with Crosby Heafey in January of 2003. Mr Blitch practised with Crosby Heafey Roach & May for 25 years before the merger.

Mr Blitch is a trial lawyer with an emphasis on business litigation including business torts, product liability, class actions, construction, real estate, financial services and environmental litigation. He has tried many significant jury and bench trials throughout California and in other states, in both federal and state courts. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (former member, board of governors, San Francisco Bay Area chapter), a founder and former chair of the trial practice section of the Alameda County Bar Association, and a member of the litigation section of the State Bar of California. He lectures frequently on the subjects of trial evidence and trial practice, and has taught for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

Representative clients include manufacturing companies, wineries, architectural and other professional firms and individuals, real estate developers and owners, public entities including courts and universities, and financial services companies. Many clients are well-known national corporations, and many are local and regional companies and individuals. Mr Blitch received his AB degree in Architecture (1972), his JD from Boalt Hall (1976) and a Masters in City and Regional Planning (1977), all from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to all California federal and state courts, Mr Blitch is admitted to the US Court of Claims and to many courts in other states pro hac vice.
