He is appointed to the panels of CIETAC and the Beijing Arbitration Commission.
He is the life president of the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association and has held positions including dean of the Faculty of Mediation & ADR, chairman of the joint consultative committee of the London Court of International Arbitration, member of the Civil Mediation Council, vice chairman of the Academy of Experts, member of the TCC ADR committee, Law Society civil litigation committee, ICE committee on expert evidence, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators' committee on new forms of arbitration and ADR.
He was educated at Sherborne School and Queen Mary College, University of London, is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales (1971) and Hong Kong (1983). He was formerly managing partner and senior partner of Masons (now Pinsent Masons LLP) and was awarded the Clare Edwards Award for Lifetime Contribution to Construction Law.
