Lara specialises in banking and finance transactions, with a focus on project finance. She has particular expertise in infrastructure development in the sectors of transport, energy, telecommunications and mining. Lara has advised on a number of transactions locally and on the African continent. She has also been the South African adviser on a number of offshore financings, where she has advised on the local law aspects, including security and exchange control. Lara has extensive experience in advising both lenders and sponsors. Lara is leading the legal team that is providing advice to The South African National Roads Agency on the N1, N2 Toll Highway Project.

Recent transactions include advising a consortium of lenders on The Project Financing of two Diesel Fired Peaking Power Plants in South Africa, the 4.4 billion rand financing of Neotel, the second national fixed-line operator in South Africa, and advising a consortium of lenders of the 3.7 billion rand refinancing of the N4 west toll road in South Africa. Lara and members of her team have advised extensively on the bids and tenders for public accommodation bids including the Department of Trade and Industry, the City of Tshwane head office and the building for the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform.
