Biography: Management Labour and Employment

Jeffrey A Berman has more than 30 years of experience in employment and labour law. He represents management in a variety of industries, including major medical centres, universities, banks, motion picture and television producers, insurance companies, retailers and manufacturers.

Mr Berman has represented employers in nearly all of the National Labor Relations Board's regional offices in the western United States. His successful representation of St Francis Medical Center of Lynwood before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals established the manner in which the NLRB made bargaining unit determinations in the healthcare industry for more than a decade.

Jeff Berman's practice focuses on the defence of employer-clients in wrongful termination, wage-hour class actions, employment discrimination and sexual harassment cases. He was a member of the legal team that successfully represented the employer in the landmark case of Foley v Interactive Data Corporation, before the California Supreme Court. He also represented Mark Goodson Productions in its successful defence of the sexual harassment suit brought by former "The Price Is Right" model, Dian Parkinson, against the company and host, Bob Barker.

Mr Berman is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Legal Committee of the Employers Group and chair of its amicus committee. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles Law School, where he served as an associate editor of the Law Review.
