Biography: Construction

Adrian L Bastianelli III is the managing partner of Peckar & Abramson's Washington, DC office. Mr Bastianelli has devoted his practice to construction claims and litigation for over 35 years, with a special emphasis on government construction contract claims. Mr Bastianelli is referred to in Chambers USA - Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business, 2005 as the "dean" of the Washington, DC construction Bar, and has been recognised in Chambers USA, 2006 for his "stellar" reputation in dispute resolution.

Mr Bastianelli also has an active Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice. He has served as an arbitrator and mediator on several hundred disputes, including disputes involving federal, state, and local governments. Mr Bastianelli also has served on 12 Dispute Resolution Boards (DRBs). He lectures frequently on construction disputes and dispute avoidance, contract drafting, ADR, and government contracts, and has written extensively on those subjects, including the ABA Forum's Federal Government Construction Contracts, for which he was an editor and an author.

Mr Bastianelli is active in professional organisations, both locally and nationally. He is the chair-elect of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry, a past member of the board of governors of the American College of Construction Lawyers, a past president of the Washington Building Congress, the former editor of the Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers, former editor of the Construction Lawyer, on the Construction Advisory Council for Thompson/West and a member of the board of directors of the Capital Region of the Professional Women in Construction.

Mr Bastianelli received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in 1966, and his law degree from the University of Louisville in 1971. He obtained his professional engineer's licence and worked as a civil engineer before becoming a lawyer.
