A substantial portion of Mr Bastianelli's practice involves service as a neutral in construction ADRs. He has served as an arbitrator and mediator on hundreds of disputes, including disputes involving federal, state, and local governments. Mr Bastianelli also has served on 12 dispute resolution boards (DRBs). He frequently lectures and writes on construction, government contracts, and ADR issues.
Mr Bastianelli has held leadership positions in several professional organisations. He is a past chair of the ABA forum on the construction industry, a past member of the board of governors of the American College of Construction Lawyers, a past president of the Washington Building Congress, a former editor of The Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers, a former editor of The Construction Lawyer, a representative to the National Construction Dispute Resolution Committee, a member of the construction advisory council for Thompson/West, a former member of the board of directors of the Professional Women in Construction, DC chapter, and a former regional representative of the DRB Foundation.
Mr Bastianelli received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Purdue University, and his law degree from the University of Louisville. He obtained his professional engineer's license before becoming a lawyer.
