Biography: Mergers and Acquisitions

Marc Bartholomy is a partner with Clifford Chance and heads the corporate and M&A practice in the firm's Moscow office, where Marc has been resident for the past 13 years. The practice includes seven partners, four counsel and approximately 50 English, German and Russian-law qualified associates who focus solely on corporate, real estate and energy projects. The corporate group advises on the most complex and sophisticated deals on the market, and is the largest corporate and M&A team in Moscow that is 100 per cent devoted to this type of work.

Marc primarily advises on M&A, real estate, construction and development projects, PPPs and joint venture structures. His industry experience includes real estate, retail, telecommunications, energy and oil and gas. Recently, Marc has advised the sellers on the disposal of trade centre Vremena Goda to a Canadian investment company Ivanhoe Cambridge for the total amount of about US$500 million and Limitless LLC, an integrated international real estate development company (business unit of Dubai World), on a large scale urban development projects in the Moscow region and on a series of JV structures for the purposes of a large scale mixed-use development in Kazakhstan. Marc has also advised Gazpromneft in relation to Okhta Tower, a landmark development in Saint Petersburg.

Marc began his career at Pünder, Volhard, Weber & Axster in 1994, where he primarily focused on general commercial transactions, especially M&A and Russian corporate law, and joined Clifford Chance in 1994. Marc was promoted to partner with Clifford Chance in May 1999. He was originally qualified as a lawyer in Germany in 1991.
