Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Ken has been a partner in our restructuring and insolvency practice since 1996 and became head of the group in April 2007. He specialises in complex restructurings and insolvencies, on both debtor and creditor side, often with a cross-border flavour. His recent experience includes advising the senior lender steering committee on the restructuring of the Panrico group; the administrators of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Plc (subsidiary of Kaupthing Bank HF); the Cattles group on its £3 billion restructuring; Woolworths on a number of rescue options prior to its administration and the administrators of Woolworths' wholesale business, Entertainment UK; Independent News & Media on its debt restructuring; Northern Rock on its restructuring; on the administration of the XL Leisure Group; Queens Moat House hotel group on all aspects of its restructuring in the UK, Germany and The Netherlands; Lehman Brothers on the Le Meridien hotels group restructuring; and KPMG on the administration of 360networks.

Ken is co-author of the cross-border issues chapter of Tolley's Insolvency Law. He was educated at the University of Glasgow, and is qualified as a solicitor in both England and Scotland. Ken is a member of the City of London Solicitors' Company Committee on insolvency matters, and the former president of the Insolvency Lawyers' Association (ILA).
