Robert L Baechtold is one of the founding partners of Fitzpatrick Cella Harper & Scinto. Over the past 40 years, he has prepared, tried and argued intellectual property cases in the District Courts, the ITC and the Federal Circuit, primarily in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemistry and polymeric materials.
Mr Baechtold was selected as a top intellectual property law practitioner in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America since 1995, Euromoney magazine's Guide to the Best Patent Lawyers and appears in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business as one of their "star players, whose first names roll off everyone's lips, the standard by which others are judged". Furthermore, he is listed in Chambers Global as a "leading light" who is "just incomparable", according to interviewees, and his brilliant knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector is renowned across the board. He was selected as one of only nine United States patent lawyers in Euromoney's 2008 Best of the Best publication.
Mr Baechtold has served as a member of the advisory committee of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the board of directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the board of directors of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, as president of the New Jersey Patent Law Association, and as a member of the board of directors and past president of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. He was elected as a Founding Fellow of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Mr Baechtold was educated at Seton Hall University School of Law (JD magna cum laude, 1966) and Rutgers University (BS, Chemistry, 1958).
