For over 25 years, Soji's major focus has been upstream and midstream petroleum issues. He continues to advise major, independent and marginal field operators on the legal, regulatory, commercial, fiscal and environmental aspects of acquisitions, divestiture and operations. The power industry with its focus on gas as the main fuel is increasingly becoming another active area of practice. He advises, negotiates and drafts contracts on production, transmission and distribution transactions. He has also been involved with drafting legal instruments for framework changes to the sector.
Soji is a pioneer environmental lawyer in Nigeria and an international consultant to UNDP, UNIDO, state and federal government environmental agencies. He initiated the formation of the Nigerian Environmental Law Society and has been active in the development of a legal, regulatory and policy framework for the sector. He is the chairman of the environment subcommittee of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Soji has been an international director and co-chair of the host countries subcommittee of the AIPN, and has previously been active as an officer in the section on energy, environment and natural resources law of the IBA.
Soji is a frequent speaker at international oil and gas and environment seminars. He is ranked in Band 1 by Chambers Global in its 2010 ranking of Nigerian energy and natural resources lawyers.
