Biography: Product Liability

Olga Anisimova, a partner in Orrick's Moscow office, is the head of the litigation department. Ms Anisimova's practice focuses on representing clients in a wide variety of domestic Russian cases in the courts of Moscow, St Petersburg, and other cities on various types of disputes for general commercial clients, such as those active in gas and oil industry sectors.

Ms Anisimova is actively involved in international arbitrations in Russia. She has handled a variety of disputes involving Russian projects before arbitration panels at the International Arbitration Court of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Moscow.

Her practice covers a wide range of cases in Russian courts involving real estate, privatisation, intellectual property, finance, tax, customs, construction and bankruptcy matters, including disputes over production sharing agreements, share purchase agreements and disputes over subsoil use and environmental issues.

Before joining Orrick, Ms Anisimova worked for another large international law firm where she headed the litigation and arbitration department of the Russia & CIS Practice Group.

Ms Anisimova is a frequent lecturer on international dispute resolution at high-level conferences. She has authored or co-authored numerous articles and publications, including: the Russian Federation chapters of Cross-Border Dispute Resolution Law Handbook (2005/06) and International Product Liability Law (2004); 'Product Liability Legislative Initiative' (The Russia Journal, April 2004); 'Conflict of Jurisdictions' Kollegia 3 (2004); 'Russia's Labour Code: Overview and Practical Recommendations' BNA's Eastern Europe Reporter (May 2003); 'Enforcement of Arbitral awards rendered in Russia' American Chamber of Commerce Newsletter (May-June 2000); 'Working out Project Debt under the New Russian Bankruptcy Law' Project Finance International (June 1999); and 'Termination of Labour Contracts Considered' Doing Business in Eastern Europe (August 1996).

Ms Anisimova served as a judge in Vasilieostrovsky District Court from 1982 to 1990. She is featured among the recommended lawyers in the 2004-2005 Chambers Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers. She is also highly recommended in PLC Which Lawyer? (2004-2005), and in Dispute Resolution. The Law and Leading Lawyers Worldwide 2005-06, published by Practical Law Company. In 2005 she received an award for distinguished professional achievement.

Ms Anisimova received her law degree, with honours from Leningrad State University (1979). She graduated from Budapest College of Law, Central European University, in 1993, and received her LLM from American University in 1994.

Ms Anisimova is admitted to practise in Russia. She is a member of the Moscow Region Bar Association. She speaks Russian and English.
