Biography: Banking

Jean is a partner and member of Goodmans' banking and finance law group. Her practice focuses on financing, corporate transactions and regulatory matters in the financial sector. With more than 25 years of legal experience, she has developed extensive expertise in the areas of project finance, structured finance, asset-based lending, debt restructuring and complex domestic and cross-border financings and foreign bank investments in Canada.

She is identified as a leading practitioner of banking/finance law in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, The Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, Chambers Global The World's Leading Lawyers, International Financial Law Review 1000, Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Banking Lawyers and World's Leading Project Finance Lawyers and Woodward White's Best Lawyers in Canada. Clients represented include Wachovia Capital Finance Corporation (Canada), Wachovia Bank, Abelco Finance, The Citco Group, Fortress Investment Group, CIT, GE Capital, Laurus Master Fund, Monroe Capital, Royal Bank of Canada, UBS, Wells Fargo and Westernbank Puerto Rico. Jean served as a law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Jean completed her LLB at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1979 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981.

Prior to joining Goodmans in 2000, she was a partner at another major Toronto law firm.
