Jan Aminoff is a partner of Aminoff & Weissenberg Attorneys Ltd. He deals extensively with all aspects of maritime and transportation law as well as insurance law, and he regularly advises insurance companies, ship owners, charterers, cargo owners, road carriers and other clients in the field. Mr Aminoffￂﾴs practice also encompasses company and commercial law matters on behalf of clients engaged both in the transportation industry and other fields. Litigation and arbitration proceedings form an important part of his practice.

Mr Aminoff graduated from the University of Helsinki in 1969 (LLM), was trained at the Bench in 1973 and admitted to the Bar in 1974. He has practised law since 1973.

Mr Aminoff is a member of the Finnish Bar Association, the International Bar Association, Legal Society of Finland, CMI Finnish Maritime Law Association (board member) and has participated in legislative work in the field of maritime law. He has also written articles on maritime and aviation law.

Mr Aminoff has written the following articles: 'Registration of Vessels, Mortgages on Vessels', IBA Handbook on Maritime Law (1983), 'Aluksen ulosmittauksesta ja myymisestä pakkohuutokaupalla' (Distraint and Sale of Vessels on Public Auction), Finnish Maritime Law Association, Essays in Maritime Law (1983); 'Arrest of Vessels', IBA Maintenance Law Handbook (1994, revised 2006), 'Registration of Aircraft' (1991, revised 2005) and 'Aircraft Liens and Detention Rights' (2006), FT Law & Tax, Aircraft Finance.

Aminoff & Weissenberg, Attorneys Ltd conducts a national and international legal practice and provides legal services to the transportation industry in particular. The firm has regular contacts with other law firms in most cities of the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe.
