Marwan Al-Turki is a leading UK private investment fund formation lawyer and acts as co-chair of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP's European private equity funds group.

Mr Al-Turki focuses his practice on structuring multi-jurisdictional private equity funds that are offered to an international institutional investor base. He advises such funds on matters relating to investments and realisation programmes.

Mr Al-Turki also advises investment managers and other financial institutions on investment management mergers and acquisitions, internal restructurings and financial services regulatory issues. He is listed in the PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook (2007).

Recent matters on which Mr Al-Turki has advised include: the management team of ABN AMRO Capital in the sale of ABN AMRO Capital to the management team; The Carlyle Group in the formation of Carlyle Europe Partners III, a European buyout fund; Gartmore Investment Management in relation to Gartmore Private Equity III, a European mid-market buyout fund of funds; and Prosperity Capital Management in relation to Prosperity Voskhod Limited and Prosperity Russia Domestic Fund, funds investing in Russian equities and listed on the AIM market.

Other clients include the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Adveq Management, Aureos Capital, Deutsche Bank, Doughty Hanson, HarbourVest Partners and Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie.

Mr Al-Turki obtained his BA and MA in jurisprudence from Oxford University and qualified as an English solicitor in 1987. He is fluent in English, Arabic, French, Spanish and Italian and has a fair command of German.
