Biography: Trade & Customs

Dr Konstantinos Adamantopoulos is the partner in charge of the Brussels office of Hammonds. He is a member of the Athens Bar, a member of the European Section of the Brussels Bar, and an associate member of the American Bar Association. His practice focuses on European Union law, with particular emphasis on international trade law and the WTO/GATT. He has extensive experience in proceedings before the EC, notably in anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases; origin investigations; cases relating to the adoption of safeguard measures and the application of the EU Market Access Regulation; proceedings involving temporary tariff suspensions; customs classification; and GATT/WTO dispute settlement. He has been involved on behalf of companies, trade associations and government bodies in several proceedings before the European Court of Justice and Court of First Instance.

Konstantinos lectures and publishes frequently on European and international trade law subjects. He is the author of Anatomy of the World Trade Organisation (Kluwer, 1997), Subsidies and Countervailing Duties Under EU Laws (Paladium, 2000) and EU Anti-subsidy Law and Practice (Sweet & Maxwell, 2007). He is a member of the European Trade Law Association and the antitrust and trade law committee of the International Bar Association.

Konstantinos has practised in Brussels since 1988 and has been with Hammonds since 1993. Hammonds is one of the largest UK commercial law firms, with offices in London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bradford, Madrid, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Rome, Turin, Aosta, Moscow, Hong Kong and Brussels.
