GOODRICH RIQUELME Y ASOCIADOS

With 75 years’ experience, the evolution of Goodrich Riquelme y Asociados reflects the evolution of Mexico itself. After World War II, when Mexico began a dramatic industrialisation process, the firm grew substantially by handling the rising tide of direct foreign joint ventures. In the 1950s and 1960s it helped to usher Mexico into the aviation industry.

Now, as democratisation and liberalisation allow Mexico to form an integral part of the globalised economy, the firm’s client base is more multinational than ever. It has lawyers throughout Mexico, an office in Paris and is an active participant in the Bomchil Group, enabling it to benefit from associated offices in every Latin American country. The success of the firm’s innovation and ambition is reflected in our research – it enjoys 11 listings across eight practice areas.

Two names feature in the corporate tax chapter. Rosario Huet Covarrubias is “extremely highly regarded” for her work in this area and is particularly respected for her “vast legal knowledge”. Raul Moreyra “enjoys excellent client relationships” and is “a very worthy inclusion” in the chapter.

Gustavo García Cuenca, listed in the management labour and employment chapter, “provides excellent representation and advice in labour cases”. He appears alongside his colleague Julio Flores Luna, who is “a very important lawyer in this sector and is to be highly recommended”.

David Enríquez is “a fantastic attorney” whose depth of expertise is “unsurpassed”. Peers consistently referenced his “great business acumen” and “admirable diligence”. He is listed in the natural resources, real estate and construction and transport chapters of this publication.

Also listed in the real estate and construction chapter is the “very talented” Agustín Urdapilleta, who has extensive expertise in corporate real estate transactions and was described to researchers as an “outstanding attorney”.

Ricardo Lan A received praise from peers for his “excellent advisory work” in relation to the telecommunications concessions and is also well known for his e-commerce and public bids knowledge. His expertise earns him a listing in the communications, internet and e-commerce chapter.

Edgar Mayorga Compean is a corporate immigration “expert” and is one of the most highly nominated lawyers in the corresponding chapter. His practice spans a wide range of immigration work, from business immigration to refugee law.

Gabriela González-Merla is listed in the environment chapter. She was commended to researchers as “a really good lawyer” who “produces a very high standard of work”.

Enrique Díaz has a wide intellectual property expertise, which encompasses enforcement, infringement, licensing and litigation. He was highly nominated by peers who described his work as “utterly brilliant”.
