GOODMANS LLP
Goodmans LLP was founded in 1917 by David B Goodman. Today the firm has offices in Toronto and Vancouver and over 200 lawyers. Its notable clients include Apax Partners, Whiterock REIT and Canaccord Financial and it has 26 listings in 12 of the following chapters.
The firm is most prominent in the insolvency and restructuring chapter, where four lawyers are selected, including head of the corporate restructuring group Jay Carfagnini. Carfagnini is a “leading restructuring lawyer” and has acted in many major restructuring cases in Canada including Canwest Media and Air Canada.
In the patents chapter, three lawyers are recognised for their expertise in the sector, with both Harry Radomski and Andrew Brodkin making a second appearance in the life sciences chapter. Radomski is head of the firm’s intellectual property litigation group and appears regularly before the Supreme Court of Canada for patent and trademark issues. Brodkin is head of the litigation group and frequently represents pharmaceutical companies regarding IP and trademark matters.
The firm makes multiple appearances in the capital markets, corporate governance and M&A chapters with co-chairs of the corporate securities group, Jonathan Lampe and Stephen Halperin ranking highly in all three sectors. Lampe is a “leading talent” in M&A and related financings and reorganisations and Halperin is “highly experienced” with a focus on domestic and international cases.
With additional listings in a further six chapters, Goodmans demonstrates a breadth and depth of expertise that lead sources to describe it as “one of Canada’s leading firms”.
