With offices based in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and now Brasília, Souza Cescon Barrieu & Flesch Advogados has developed into a national set with a strong finance and governance service. It is well represented in the capital markets, project finance and corporate governance arenas.
Maria Cristina Cescon runs the corporate team with Marcos Rafael Flesch. Both feature in the capital markets and corporate governance chapters and come highly recommended. Cescon also earns a mention in the M&A chapter for her “excellent track record” in arranging and executing deals. She counts Portugal Telecom and Globo as corporate clients. Flesch makes a “notable contribution” to the team. Joaquim José Aceturi de Oliveira and André Mestriner Stocche are also renowned for their capital markets work, primarily in the equity financing and private equity fields.
Alongside Cescon and Flesch in capital markets and corporate governance is Ronald Herscovici whose practice focusses on advising clients on corporate structuring and related governance matters within the natural resources and oil and gas industries. He has also developed a “very strong” project finance practice.
Also featuring in the project finance section is Luis Antonio Semeghini de Souza, Guilherme de Figueiredo Forbes and Mauricio Teixeira dos Santos. Project finance has been a foundation of the practice since its inception in 2001. Forbes and dos Santos specialise in natural resources related project financing. De Souza has led the team that has been responsible for advising and representing clients such as Odebrecht as it obtained financing from BNDES and Santander for its subsidiary Foz do Brasil.
Heloisa Verri Paulino represents the firm in the environment sector, where she is “certainly one of the best in her generation.”
