UDO UDOMA & BELO-OSAGIE

Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie is the best represented firm in this edition, with 20 listings in six of the following chapters. In each chapter the firm is represented by at least three lawyers: a very strong performance that highlights the firm’s “phenomenal strength in depth”.

The firm places four lawyers apiece in the M&A and project finance sections. Dan Agbor achieves an impressive six listings throughout the publication including prominent rankings in both of these sections. Citing the structuring of an international debt fund that is listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange in his resume, Agbor is also recognised for his banking and capital markets work. With further recognition in the oil and gas and regulatory communications chapters, Agbor is featured more often than any other lawyer across this publication.

Udoma Udo Udoma, the firm’s founding and senior partner, comes “highly recommended” for corporate transactional work with his specialisation in mergers and acquisitions. Managing partner Myma Belo-Osagie represents the firm in the oil and gas, project finance and regulatory communications sectors. As head of the oil and gas and telecommunications teams, her “incisive approach” is highly praised by interviewees.

Aniekan Ukpanah, co-head of the banking and finance team and head of project finance, uses his financial expertise in a variety of projects ranging from advising investors in the oil and gas sector to transportation infrastructure projects. Working alongside him, Yinka Edu is noted for her experience in a wide range of financial and capital markets transactions. A member of the team that advised local banks on the 2008 banking consolidation mergers, Edu is a “strong performer” in the capital markets, banking and M&A chapters.

With her “first-rate reputation” for high quality telecommunications work, Jumoke Lambo is listed in the regulatory communications chapter. Her work encompasses advising operators who are establishing themselves in the country and those wanting to acquire interests in Nigerian companies. Folake Elias Adebowale also achieves multiple listings and is cited as an “accomplished practitioner” in project finance as well as being highly regarded as an adviser in the oil and gas industry.
