TEMPLARS
Templars was created in the 1990s and currently maintains four offices in Nigeria’s major economic hubs. Templars lawyers achieve seven listings in five of the following chapters and make up “one of the most sophisticated teams in the country” according to one source.
The firm’s strongest showings are in the oil and gas and corporate immigration sections, with two listings in each. The head of the corporate and commercial practice group, Olumide Akpata is a highly regarded lawyer in the corporate sector, appearing in both the immigration and M&A chapters. The “highly proficient” Oghogho Akpata is renowned for his oil and gas and project finance expertise and worked for the world’s second-largest port operator in its bid for the Apapa Container Terminal concession. Alongside him in the oil and gas chapter is the “well respected” Dayo Okusami, who scored highly in our research.
Senior associate Ijeoma Uju earns Templars a further listing in the corporate immigration chapter for her “excellent” work, which has consisted in advising Bechtel Corporation on labour and immigration issues arising out of its role in the Brass LNG project. Anthony Ossai is a former legal officer of Pinnacle Commercial Bank and a proficient specialist in financing, issuances of notes, loan securitisation and transfers and he features prominently in the banking chapter.
