Established in 1995 MGB Law Offices has undergone a number of reinventions. The firm began life as Jura Consultants Limited; in 1999 it morphed into Ledingham Chalmers Baku Limited before adopting its current name. Its founders Ismail Asekerov and Elchin Mammadov manage the Azerbaijani firm and provide a strong array of expertise to foreign and domestic entities. It enjoys 13 listings over 10 practice areas.
Ismail Asekerov appears in six practice areas. He is “well regarded” in the competition section and has a good reputation in the construction and real estate field. He received a number of votes from his peers in the M&A and oil and gas sections, where he has advised various international companies in aspects of Azeri commercial and corporate law. He has developed a good practice in project finance acting for major vessel and aircraft operators in Azerbaijan. His corporate knowledge has informed his practice in trade and customs where he is ranked very highly.
Elchin Mammadov features in five chapters. He is very highly rated in the corporate tax chapter, a testament to his “superb” skill and knowledge. He performs well in our banking research; he has provided advice to a consortium of lenders in the first unsecured syndicated loan in Azerbaijan. His construction and real estate expertise is also much lauded.
Anar Janmammadov features in two chapters. His experience includes advising on commercial litigation issues, for which he received a large number of votes in our research. He also practices in intellectual property matters.
