Practice Areas
This year we cover 21 distinct practice areas in our research, with a clear spotlight placed on natural resources. We list a higher number of experts in those sectors in this edition than in the previous guide and the lawyers we spoke to commented on the significant increase in legal work brought about by the new initiatives. The emphasis on renewable energy has also resulted in an uptick of project finance work in this sector and the corresponding chapter of this guide lists 20 practitioners – an increase of four from last year. Further, notable chapters include M&A with 45 lawyers and Banking with 30 lawyers listed. There has also been an increase in real estate and construction projects, which has led to a corresponding demand for specialists: we list 28 practitioners in that chapter. A significant increase in refinancing work, particularly in the real estate and energy sectors, has fuelled demand for experienced capital markets and banking expertise, and our lists of featured practitioners for these chapters have correspondingly grown by four names each.
