Employee benefits and related fields of law such as the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) are areas of major concern to US companies, with potential liability in this area stretching to millions of dollars. As such, clients rely on outside counsel to provide drafting skills, advice and, when necessary, representation in this area. This chapter lists 17 individuals who should be considered the leaders in the field, drawn from 13 firms.
The research for this chapter has identified 13 leaders in the practice of corporate tax law from 11 firms within the state of Florida. The following pages identify experts with a wide range of specialisations: international tax experts are included alongside authorities on domestic tax, direct taxation practitioners feature in a list, that also includes indirect tax lawyers and specialists on transfer pricing and tax issues deriving from M&A and dispositions. All however are recognised for their outstanding ability in the legal aspects of corporate taxation.
This chapter identifies 27 individuals from 22 firms, all of whom are well equipped to handle the legal aspects of the immigration and naturalisation of skilled workers and their dependants on behalf of large corporate entities, investors, entertainers and individual businessmen and women. While a number of Florida’s leading full-service firms perform well in our research, the majority of the lawyers are sole practitioners or work out of immigration boutiques.
Five years on from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, its effects are still being felt in boardrooms across the US, and corporate governance remains high on the agenda. Outside counsel continue to provide clients with guidance, advice and representation, and our research has identified 18 individuals from 11 firms who have proven track records in this field, and can counsel corporations on issues arising in routine operations and in extraordinary transactions.

While a number advise both insurers and reinsurers on the drafting of new policies, others work on matters concerning insurance claims and recoveries. Singapore has a thriving intellectual property market: 9,164 patent applications were filed there in 2006, according to figures published by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
