Former Simpson Thacher & Bartlett litigator joins independent investment practice
Michael Chepiga has joined private investment firm BlackRobe Capital Partners LLC as managing director working alongside the co-founders in the business development, investment underwriting and firm management departments. Chepiga was previously listed in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Litigators.
Prior to joining BlackRobe he spent 30 years as a litigator at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP where he represented major corporations and financial institutions in complex high profile cases and was also a member of the executive committee.
Speaking on his appointment Chepiga commented: “The legal profession is in a state of major change today. Clients want to secure first-class legal representation while controlling costs and sharing risk. Law firms want to provide top flight services, but keep up their profitability. BlackRobe can help them both.”
Co-founder of BlackRobe Sean Coffey said that he is “thrilled” to welcome Chepiga to the company. “Mike and I were on the opposite sides of several cases and I got to see first-hand why he earned such a sterling reputation as a litigation strategist. Mike brings unsurpassed credibility in management suites and corporate boardrooms, and will greatly enhance BlackRobe’s ability to assist companies as they seek creative ways to address the escalating costs of civil litigation.”
Based in New York, BlackRobe is a commercial claim investor corporation offering financial and strategic partnership to claimholders in high-stakes business disputes.
