Leading arbitrator joins King & Spalding in Germany
On 1 January arbitration specialist Jan Schaefer joined King & Spalding LLP as a partner in its Frankfurt office.
Arriving from Allen & Overy LLP where he spent five years, Schaefer focuses on complex post-M&A arbitration as well as foreign investment, construction and energy-related disputes. In addition to his work as counsel, Schaefer also fulfils various roles in ICC and DIS arbitration proceedings including chairman, party-appointed and sole arbitrator.
Eric Schwartz, a Paris-based partner at King & Spalding says he expects Schaefer to play a “key role” in the firm’s continued efforts to develop the practice in Germany. “Jan is one of the outstanding international arbitration practitioners of his generation, and we are excited that he has chosen to join us in Frankfurt,” he adds.
