Leading insurance company hires new GC
Derek Walsh has been appointed the position of general counsel of global insurer RSA.
Based in London, he will be responsible for leading the legal, group secretarial and group regulatory risk and compliance teams.
Walsh arrives from the Argo Group where he was acting as general counsel and assisting in relation to certain corporate projects. Prior to that, he held positions at law firms Pinsent Curtis (now Pinsent Masons LLP), McKenna & Co (now CMS Cameron McKenna LLP) and Norton Rose LLP.
Commenting on his new position, Walsh said: “I’m delighted to be joining RSA. The company has a unique heritage in the insurance industry and a global reach. I am really looking forward to working with the team.”
RSA is a FTSE 100 company, listed on the London Stock Exchange. RSA has been writing insurance for almost 300 years.
