Most Highly Regarded Firms: UAE 2008 - Insolvency & Restructuring

The UAE has been in constant economic boom. The liquidation of Forsyth Partners in 2007 was the first and only involving a firm from the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Julian Turner of Reed Smith LLP has an extensive background in banking and restructuring issues, and relocated to Abu Dhabi from the UK in 2006. He was recognised for his "sterling work" on behalf of David Dunckley and Steven Akers of Grant Thornton as liquidators of the Forsyth Group of companies. Clyde & Co advised Forsyth Partners Global Distributors and Forsyth Partners (Middle East), and the team was led by Ashley Painter. He joined the firm's Dubai office in 2006 and is highly rated for his banking and finance practice. Vanessa Abernethy worked alongside him, and has since moved to the Dubai office of Simmons & Simmons. Particularly well regarded, she was also picked out for her securities, IPO, transactional and private equity work.
