Brazil: Life Sciences
Brazil has seen a steady stream of investment into research and development in the life sciences industry over the past few years, which has generated more work for Brazilian lawyers in this field. Despite the need for better legislative clarity and more effective regulations, Brazil’s life sciences marketplace has improved and its generics market is growing. This year we feature 10 lawyers.
Pinheiro Neto Advogados features the “renowned” Angela Fan Chi Kung, who enjoys a regulatory practice in medications, medical products, food, beverages, agricultural products and much more, as does Camila Martino Parise, a regulatory and licensing lawyer.
Mattos Muriel Kestener Advogados earns two inclusions. Beatriz Kestener is an “outstanding and very aggressive litigator” with a focus on health care, life sciences and agriculture. She has a “substantial practice” advising major domestic and international pharmaceutical companies. Similarly, Beatriz Veiga Carvalho practises in this area, with an interest in drug product liability and tort.
Former in-house counsel at Merck Pharmaceuticals, Marcos Lobo de Freitas Levy from A Lopes Muniz Advogados Associados brings years of experience and knowledge of life sciences within the pharmaceutical industry to the table.
At Correia da Silva Advogados, founding partner Rodrigo Alberto Correia da Silva is a “well known practitioner in this area”. He is an active litigator, who represents medical companies and also advises and lobbies for changes to the regulatory system and policy.
Gabriel Di Blasi of Di Blasi Parente Vaz e Dias & Associados in Rio de Janeiro is a leading industrial property and life sciences lawyer. He concentrates on plant technology licensing, pharmaceuticals and biochemical data protection, among other areas.
At Momsen Leonardos & Cia Otto B Licks focuses on litigation in the IP, pharmaceutical and information technology industries and is highly regarded by his peers.
Eliana Silva de Moraes, of her own firm, operates within the food, cosmetics, drug, medical devices and pharmaceutical industries, as does Vicente Nogueira at his own firm. He advises major companies on food and drug law, IP and competition matters.
