The "first-class profile" it enjoys is based in large part on the recognition three of its partners received in the research. Cyril Shroff earned sufficient nominations to appear in a remarkable six chapters, and is "undeniably a giant of Indian law". Based in Mumbai, he stands out for his knowledge of corporate and finance matters. Shardul Shroff is based in New Delhi and appears in four chapters. He too is well known for project finance work, and has recently supervised the preparation for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project. His M&A and corporate governance practice is "absolutely top drawer" - he has played a significant role in company law reforms - and his banking and finance expertise was also acclaimed. He is particularly known for the international dimension to his practice, and is a member of the US-India Business Council.
Pallavi Shroff garnered high levels of recognition for her disputes practice, and appears as a leader in both our commercial arbitration and litigation chapters. She is also one of only three lawyers from India to appear in our competition chapter, where her expertise was described as "hugely impressive". She is joined in the arbitration chapter by her colleague the "excellent" Ciccu Mukhopadhaya, while L Viswanathan accompanies Cyril Shroff in the project finance chapter and "stands comparison with anyone in India" in this field.
