The firm’s strongest showing is in our M&A section, where managing partner Lucien Wong features prominently. Wong is listed in more chapters than any other lawyer at the firm, with additional appearances in the banking and corporate governance chapters. Wong is described as a “superb talent” with unparalleled expertise demonstrated by his work on one of the largest M&A transactions involving a securities house in 2011 for client Maybank. Featuring alongside him in the M&A chapter are Andrew Lim and Lee Kim Shin, both noted for their “depth of expertise”.

The firm further impresses in the capital markets chapter, with the firm’s head of equity capital markets Tze-Gay Tan listed for her “impressive abilities”. Her recent work includes advising on Tiger Airways Holdings Limited’s initial public offering.

As head of the technology and corporate intellectual property practice group, Kok Leong Tham has advised Nera Telecommunications on the transfer and assignment of certain trademark and domain names and an OEM arrangement. Clients described him as “simply outstanding”.

In the field of life sciences, two lawyers are recognised for their depth of expertise: Stanley Lai and Su May Tan. Lai advises biomedical and pharmaceutical companies on regulatory matters, clinical trials, product recall and product liability and is “greatly respected”, while Tan is a “true asset” to her clients.

The firm’s real estate and construction practices are “well regarded”, with two professionals listed in the corresponding chapter for the former and one for the latter. The real estate chapter names Penny Goh and Margaret Soh as two “leading lights” in the field. Chien Mien Ho, listed for construction, is a “top practitioner” and recently acted as project counsel for South Beach Consortium on its development comprising commercial and residential elements – one of the largest commercial mixed use projects in Singapore, for which the main contract was signed in 2011.

Featuring in both the competition and environment chapters Daren Shiau is a “star” and successfully advised on Singapore’s first ever share acquisition cleared under the merger control regime.
