The past 12 months also saw the firm acting for Nokia in a 50:50 joint venture with Siemens valued at US$31.6 billion, and for HSBC, as financial adviser and lender to Borse Dubai in its €3 billion public tender offer for OMX. The firm boasts 14 individuals in as many chapters of this publication, a number appear in more than one chapter.

Tomas Lindholm is Roschier’s senior partner and one of Finland’s most eminent lawyers. He appears in no less than five of the 29 chapters that follow. His experience and expertise in the corporate arena meant he received many nominations for both the mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance chapters, where he was noted as a “perennial favourite among major clients”. He is also “the person I would go to in Finland” for product liability, according to one source. His reputation for dispute resolution is confirmed by his inclusion in the commercial litigation section. Lindholm was also identified as a leader and a “stand-out practitioner” in the capital markets research. Dimitrios Himonas joins him in the capital markets chapter. Lennart Simonsen is the second of three Roschier practitioners in the mergers and acquisitions chapter, the third being Axel Calissendorff, managing partner of Roschier/Stockholm, who also features in the corporate governance chapter. During the past 18 months Roschier has established itself in the Swedish M&A market, having participated as an adviser in almost all major takeovers and auction processes in Sweden, these deals valued in excess of 500 million kroner.

Carita Wallgren-Lindholm is the third Roschier partner to be listed in the corporate governance chapter and appears in the commercial arbitration and commercial litigation chapters as well. Her corporate advisory and dispute resolution experience is reported to be “second to none”.

Kaj Swanljung is Finland’s most highly nominated individual in the real estate chapter, with one competitor describing him as a “very skilful”. He also features in the management labour and employment section where Eva Nordman-Rajaharju also comes recommended.
The firm is also strong in the IP arena. Rainer Hilli is included in the patents and trademarks chapters. He was described by one source as “the best in Finland” for patent work and is equally well regarded for trademarks work.
