What is the Who's Who Legal 100?
Created through a 1983 merger of four leading Swedish firms, Vinge became the first firm in the country to offer clients a full range of legal services. Since its inception, the firm has pioneered legal services in Sweden, developing its practice with a particular focus on its strength in the field of M&A and corporate finance. The firm aims to be engaged in more international transactions than any other Swedish firm; and with offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo, Helsingborg, Brussels, Hong Kong and Shanghai, Vinge has the scope to aid clients in their international endeavours. The firm garners 34 listings across 20 practice areas.

With its strong corporate focus, the firm excels in the corresponding chapters in our research. In the M&A chapter the firm receives two listings, including Göran Nyström: a “talented individual” who also receives recognition for his capital markets practice. Nyström has a “very active” practice and most recently advised Schibsted ASA in its recommended offer for Aspiro. Carl Gustaf De Geer is a “leading expert” in M&A transactions and “highly sought after” by clients.
In the corporate governance section the firm achieves three listings. Johan Gernandt is a “prominent figure” in the field with an “impressive” knowledge of Swedish and EU company law. Gernandt is equally well known for his arbitration practice and is highly recommended in the corresponding chapter. Former managing director of the firm Michael Wigge has a “wealth of expertise” in corporate law and is “greatly respected” by peers and clients alike. Recommended for his proficiency in corporate tax, Mattias Schömer is “highly knowledgeable” in the field.
Vinge’s dispute resolution practice is “highly revered”, with three listings for commercial arbitration and a further listing in the commercial litigation chapter. The “brilliant” Christer Söderlund is greatly respected by peers and, in addition to being a member of the panel of arbitrators in Sweden, he sits on panels in Moscow, Cairo, Kazakhstan, Beijing and Poland. His expertise in oil and gas is also held in “great esteem”, earning him a listing in the corresponding chapter. Mikael Broomé, the sole entry to the commercial litigation chapter, specialises in disputes in the areas of corporate law and insolvency and restructuring, and is described as “top notch”.
Banking and project finance is a further focus area of the firm, and our research identifies two listings in both chapters. Stefan de Hevesy is recognised across more practice sectors than any other lawyer at the firm, with listings in the banking, project finance and real estate chapters. His expertise is in “high demand” and most recently he was responsible for the team that advised the Carlyle Group in relation to its acquisition of shares in Nacka Strand Fastighets from Vasakronan. Alongside him in the banking chapter is Bo Adrianzon, a “superb” lawyer who recently advised FSN Capital on its divestment of Alignment Systems.
Two lawyers feature in the regulatory communications chapter, including the “distinguished” Carl Johan af Petersens, who was recently involved in advising Canal Digital Sverige in relation to the sale of Canal Digital Kabel-TV. Johan Winnerblad is “one of the best” in the region and a “definite inclusion”.
Vinge fields two names in the management labour and employment chapter. The firm’s expertise in this sector covers advising clients on employment issues related to M&A transactions, as well as on terminations, restructurings, incentive programmes and non-competition and confidentiality clauses. Fredrik Dahl specialises in advising the aviation and services industry, as does Björn Lindskog – an “expert” in employee terminations.
With many of its lawyers demonstrating their international reputation through our research, the firm continues to go from strength to strength.
