Today, the firm boasts a network of 20 offices across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Its members are listed 38 times across 15 chapters of this book.

Intellectual Property
Simmons & Simmons has an "enviable IP team" with expertise in all areas of intellectual property, including patent and trademark registration and litigation, technology transfers and corporate transactions.

Partner Kevin Mooney in London is among the highest-scoring nominees in the patents chapter. He is closely followed by Rowan Freeland, also based in London. In the trademarks chapter, David Stone in London and John Slater in Hong Kong are listed.

Seven Simmons & Simmons practitioners feature in the life sciences chapter. The firm represents 18 out of the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, as well as a range of major biotechnology and consumer health-care companies. Freeland earns the most votes for the firm in this section, and appears alongside Mooney, Jacques-Antoine Robert in Paris, and Charles Mayo, who heads the global life sciences group in Hong Kong. Mark Hewland in London is noted by rivals as a "very talented" lawyer who advises on all aspects of employment law and appears in the management labour and employment chapter. Appearing alongside him is César Sá Esteves in Lisbon and the "excellent" Fiona Loughrey in Hong Kong.

Competition and Regulation
The firm's recent competition highlights include advising the Civil Aviation Authority on the current London and Manchester airports price-control review. The team also represented the Portuguese Ministry of Economy on the state aid aspects of the creation of the Iberian electricity market.
