Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Who's Who Legal

Fulbright has a presence in 16 locations worldwide, including Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Munich, Riyadh and Dubai. Lawyers from the firm are selected for inclusion 41 times in the following pages, across 16 practice areas.

Illustrating its Texan roots, Fulbright is “superb” for oil and gas work. The firm has nine lawyers listed in this chapter. Five nominees appear from the US, including the “outstanding” Michael Irvin in Houston and Steven Pfeiffer in Washington, DC. Other big names include David Moroney and Susan Farmer from the London office. In Hong Kong, Stefan John Ricketts provides “accurate and client-focused” counsel.

Fulbright has a “very strong” arbitration practice with seven lawyers listed in four countries. Mark Baker in Texas is “terrific” and Philip Punwar in Dubai is an “impressive arbitrator”. Richard Hill appears in Hong Kong, and David Howell co-heads the international arbitration and ADR practice group from London. Engagements have involved the successful representation of a national oil company in a case involving a claim for US$1 billion arising from alleged bribery of an international arbitration tribunal in Switzerland.

The firm’s trademarks team provides “practical and creative” counsel. Five nominees are selected from across the US. In Austin, Richard Groos features highly in the research, as does James Paul Williamson in Washington, DC. The firm is also well known for product liability work with three partners selected, including the “prominent” Otway Denny.

Labour and employment is also an area where the firm performs well with three lawyers listed in the US. In Minneapolis, Barbara Jean D’Aquila is an “absolutely fantastic” litigator and Jeff Wray is consistently nominated for his work in this field.

By demonstrating such outstanding expertise across a broad range of practice areas, and with a strong international presence, the firm is clearly a leading player in the legal market.
