Lawyers from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP appear 37 times in the following pages, and the firm is recognised in 11 of our practice area chapters.
The firm is particularly renowned for the quality of its labour and employment practice. Twelve individuals are selected. The “superb” Mark Dichter is chair of the firm’s practice and one of the highest nominated practitioners in our international research. The firm’s reputation is particularly strong in the US, where 10 of its nominees are based. Timothy O’Reilly and Steven Wall stand out in Philadelphia, and further experts in DC, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami were also repeatedly commended to researchers. François Vergne is an adviser that clients “really trust” and gives the firm a further presence in the Paris market.
Morgan Lewis is also well known for its corporate immigration capability, and four lawyers are selected for inclusion. Eleanor Pelta is “hugely respected” in DC and beyond, and is listed alongside two nominees in San Francisco and a further inclusion in London.
Four further partners appear in the environment chapter, all based in DC. Michael Steinberg in particular is viewed as “absolutely first-rate”. Three further US based experts are selected for their white-collar criminal defence work. John Hemann is co-chair of the corporate investigations and white-collar practice and one of the most highly regarded individuals in California.
Louis Singer heads Morgan Lewis’s private investment funds practice in New York and is one of three nominees from the firm in the private funds research. Ann Baker is also selected from the Paris office. A further trio of nominees are selected from the firm’s US offices in our corporate tax chapter, and in Houston the “exceptional” David Asmus is leader of the energy transactions practice and one of the world’s leading oil and gas lawyers.
The firm’s IP capability is reflected by two nominees in the trademarks chapter, where Michael Clayton in DC is regarded as “wonderful lawyer”, and the firm also claims two further places in the life sciences chapter and one in the patent research.
