Over time the firm has developed an international network of 18 offices across the US, Europe and Asia. Paul Hastings boasts a diverse client base that includes leading financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies. The firm appears 33 times on the following pages with its practitioners identified as leaders in 14 areas of law.

Management Labour and Employment
Fourteen Paul Hastings practitioners appear in the management labour and employment chapter, a feat unmatched by any other firm in this book. The firm is the recipient of Who's Who Legal's management labour and employment law firm of the year award for the fourth year running. Los Angeles partner Paul Grossman is the winner of the lawyer of the year award and described by an interviewee as "a leader of discrimination law".

Chair of the employment law department, Nancy Abell, is another "stand-out name" and an expert in wrongful discharge and labour management litigation. She is based in California with Grossman and is joined in this chapter by two other West Coast practitioners, Kirby Wilcox and Paul Cane.

Also appearing in this chapter is the "outstanding" Barbara Brown who is the chair of the firm's Washington, DC, office, where she practises alongside Neal Mollen and Barbara Johnson. In New York, Erika Collins, Zachary Fasman and Patrick Shea are highly recommended, as is Geoff Weirich and John Wymer in Atlanta.

Outside the US, the "terrific" Christopher Walter, who heads the employment department in London, and the "great" Setsuko Ueno in Tokyo are highly regarded. The "fantastic" Karen Koenig Winarsky earns the firm a listing in the corporate immigration chapter.

Corporate
Paul Hastings is home to some formidable talent in the franchise field with three practitioners listed in the corresponding chapter. The "superb" Richard Asbill has a "highly impressive" aptitude for complex transactions and his international work was praised by our sources. He is joined by fellow Atlanta partner Andrew Scott who has a "fabulous technology practice" and the "excellent" Michael Lindsey in Los Angeles.

Walter Jospin represents the firm in the mergers and acquisitions chapter and Martin Edelman and Robert Wertheimer, are a "very highly regarded" duo who are listed in the real restate chapter.

Based in San Francisco, Deborah Schmall joined the firm in March 2008 and earns the firm a listing in the environment chapter. She was described by one source as a "top compliance and transactional lawyer". Hamilton Loeb in Washington, DC, is highly recommended and appears in the trade and customs chapter.

Two Paul Hastings partners feature in the corporate tax chapter - the "spectacular" Allard de Waal and Robert Culbertson. De Waal is one of three Paris-based individuals from the firm selected to feature in this book and is praised for his national and international tax practice.
