Latin Lawyer's 2nd Annual Private Equity Conference
Latin American private equity fundraising and deals have grown astronomically since the end of the global financial crisis – in 2010, over US$17 billion of deals were done, a five-fold increase on 2009, with nearly US$8 billion raised by funds focused on the region in the same period. Investment is showing no signs of slowing throughout 2011, helped by a growing middle class across the region, significant infrastructure needs and investment, and regulatory steps in the right direction – particularly the emergence of robust pension fund investors.
However, challenges do remain in the industry – are Brazilian assets overpriced, and how can counsel help investors balance risk and reward as more and more funds focus on the country? How will the emergence of true leveraged deals, and the interest of the global megafunds, change the industry? How can Mexico and the Andean countries capitalise on the global interest and garner a bigger slice of the pie? What regulatory obstacles remain, and can they be overcome?
Against this background full of opportunity and challenges, Latin Lawyer is offering a second annual regional Private Equity Conference in New York. Last year’s conference featured speakers from JPMorgan, Apax, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Eton Park, and Angra Partners alongside the best of international and local law firms across the region, and the 2011 Conference will also offer the best of legal minds from banks, funds, law firms and government. Join us to learn about the trends that will be affecting your private equity practice through 2012 onwards.
