The Supreme Court’s decision, which lead to the break up of Standard Oil, was a landmark in establishing the “rule of reason” for antitrust, but it remains controversial one hundred years later. This symposium will examine the Standard Oil opinion, the effectiveness of structural remedies, and the impact on federal and state enforcement of antitrust laws in the energy industry.
