Dr Katharina Scheja is a partner in the IT/IP services department of Heymann & Partners in Frankfurt.
After studies at the Universities of Frankfurt and Munich she received her first state exam in 1986 and her second state exam in 1990. She received her PhD in Law from the University of Munich. Dr Scheja was admitted to practise in Germany in 1990 and is registered on the roll of solicitors at Frankfurt am Main admitted to practise at the local, district and state supreme courts in Germany.
Her professional career includes in-house counsel of Microsoft GmbH in Munich, partner with Clifford Chance (1996 to 1999), Graf von Westphalen, Fitze & Modest (1999 to 2001), Willkie Farr & Gallagher (2001 to 2005) and FPS Fritze Paul Seelig (2005 to 2006).
Dr Scheja specialises in large IT transactions such as software and telecom projects, development, distribution and licensing contracts and outsourcing as well as advice on copyright, trademark and patent law for these industries. In addition, Dr Scheja is an experienced litigator and has also been active in the field of anti-piracy as regards advice, precedent cases, campaigns, initiatives and enforcement (civil law as well as criminal enforcement agencies).
Dr Scheja is a member of DGRI (German Association for Computer Law), GRUR (German Association on IP Law), LES (Licensing Executive Society) and the American Bar Association.
