Cliffe Dekker and Hofmeyer Herbstein & Giwala Inc vote for merger

Cliffe Dekker and Hofmeyr Herbstein & Gihwala Inc have confirmed their intentions to join forces. Subject to approval, the firm will begin operations in South Africa in September 2008.

The 127- strong team will appoint Cliffe Dekker's current chairman and M&A specialist, Chris Ewing, to the position of CEO and Gihwala's chairman, Dines Gihwala, will remain in his current post in the new firm. Ewing appears in the current issue of The International Who's Who of Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyers.
