NYSE Euronext names new general counsel

Financial services group NYSE Euronext has named John Halvey as its new general counsel and group executive vice president effective from March 2008.

Halvey arrives from Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP where he served for almost 22 years at the firm's New York office and founded the strategic sourcing and technology group.

In his new role, Halvey will be responsible for all NYSE Euronext legal activities, including global risk and audit services, and he will also be a member of the company's management committee.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Euronext combined in April 2007. It is now the world's largest exchange group and offers full range of financial products and services.
