Facebook hires a new general counsel

Former Kirkland & Ellis partner Theodore Ullyot has been appointed as the new general counsel of social networking website Facebook.

Ullyot has previously served as general counsel for AOL Time Warner, chief of staff at the US Justice Department under former attorney general Alberto Gonzales, and has held numerous positions in the White House including associate counsel to President Bush.
In his much sought after new role, he will oversee all of the company's legal needs.
Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Facebook has become the world's most rapid social networking website since it was founded in 2004. It now boasts over 100 million users.
