What is the Who's Who Legal 70?
Law Firm of the Year – Sweden
Mannheimer Swartling Advokatbyrå is recognised as Who’s Who Legal’s Swedish law firm of the year for the sixth consecutive year in this edition. In recent months, Mannheimer Swartling lawyers have advised HESTRA-Handsken, TeliaSonera and Trelleborg on major international transactions, and the firm has been honoured with an inclusion in Global Arbitration Review’s “GAR 100” and Global Competition Review’s “GCR 100” surveys for its outstanding presence in these disciplines.
Three of the firm’s lawyers feature in the arbitration section, including current Swedish Arbitration Association chair Robin Oldenstam. Hailed as “an exceptional talent” by peers, Oldenstam has handled disputes for clients in the energy, automotive, property and financial sectors, and he earns further recognition in the litigation chapter. Insolvency disputes expert Olle Flygt also ranks highly in both chapters, while the “outstanding” Kaj Hobér completes the firm’s arbitration listings.
Johan Carle and Tommy Pettersson act as co-chairs of the firm’s EU and competition team, which has recently represented Assa Abloy in its acquisition of Copiax and defended Nasdaq against abuse of dominance allegations. Senior counsel Johan Coyet earns the firm its third listing in this chapter, and Carle and Pettersson achieve further recognition in the public procurement and banking sections respectively.
Mannheimer Swartling’s financial services capabilities are well documented in several chapters of this edition. Chair of the firm’s banking and finance group André Andersson is listed alongside Petterson in the banking chapter and earns additional listings in the capital markets, project finance and aviation sections. Thomas Wallinder and “corporate star” Eva Hägg are also prominent names in the capital markets chapter, with Hägg also ranking highly along with several other members of Mannheimer Swartling’s “leading” corporate team in the private funds and M&A sections. Among the names in the latter chapter, head of M&A and insolvency and chairman of the board Biörn Riese is a “standout practitioner” who also achieves listings in the regulatory communications and corporate governance sections. Senior counsel Sven Unger is also recognised for his governance expertise, and his “strong” aviation profile earns him an additional listing alongside Andersson and Jan Dernestam in the corresponding chapter. Three listings in the tax chapter further attest to the firm’s “first-rate” corporate and financial law credentials.
Mannheimer Swartling boasts one of the largest and most highly regarded real estate teams in northern Europe and we recognise three of its foremost members in the following pages. Practice group head Klas Wennström and industry sector group chairman Jesper Prytz are both lauded for their transactional work as well as their construction and development expertise. Per Molander brings “outstanding” knowledge of the property sector to the table in his role as chair of the firm’s environment practice and he ranks highly in the corresponding section.
The firm also distinguishes itself in the internet and e-commerce, life sciences and shipping and maritime chapters.
